WHAT ARE THE BEST LEGO SETS FOR 2023?

LEGO is bringing out hundreds of exciting new sets in 2023, for enthusiasts of all ages and interests. 2023 will also see some older themes revisited, such as Indiana Jones and Lord of the Rings. Lego will release heaps of new sets early in the New Year and a whole lot more in the second half of the year. The company will no doubt have a few surprises up it sleeves as well; they like to do that! This is what know at this stage, about what we can expect from LEGO in 2023…

LEGO ART

Lego Art has proved popular and we anticipate that a number of new sets will hit the shelves next year. At this stage Lego has only announced the release of this one, in January:

31208 The Great Wave off Kanagawa.

This is a Lego interpretation of one of the most famous artworks in history, a wood block print depicting a wave, by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, which resides at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This comes off the back of the success of 21333 Vincent Van Gogh – The Starry Night. Wonderful for all the young art lovers!

LEGO AVATAR

2023 will see a series of sets based on the film Avatar: The Way of Water, which is of course the much anticipated sequel from director James Cameron:

75575 Ilu Discovery

75576 Skimwing Adventure

75577 Mako Submarine

75578 Metkayina Reef Home

75579 Payakan the Tulkan & Crabsuit

We particularly like the look of the Metkayina Reef Home which should delight all Avatar lovers. 9+ builders can construct a Metkayina dwelling in the extra-terrestrial subtropical environment of Pandora, amongst exotic trees and coral reefs.

LEGO BRICKHEADZ

Lord of the Rings returns in 2023 and Lego is bringing on these new Brickheadz characters:

40615 Tusken Raider

40630 Frodo & Gollum

40631 Gandalf the Grey & Balrog

40632 Aragorn & Arwen

In Frodo & Gollum, Frodo is full size with brick-built cloak, sword and ring; Gollum is smaller, holding his favourite snack – fish. LOTR devotes will love these little guys.

LEGO CITY

The original Lego City theme went gang busters when it came out, so it’s no surprise that dozens of new sets are ready for release in early 2023. We won’t list them all here, but we think this one might prove to be a favourite:

60371 Emergency Vehicles HQ

It has a two storey building (complete with lounge area with TV), firefighting helicopter, ambulance, police SUV and a runaway bad guy on a motorbike. The police car has a surveillance camera on the side and there’s a BBQ on fire for the good guys to put out!

LEGO CLASSIC

Lego Classic releases another Lego Monkey Set in 2023. Adorable, easy sets for the little ones and adored by adults alike.

11031 Creative Monkey Fun will be available from January 2023 and it features customisable monkeys for ages 5+ which can be made into all sorts of different looks and moods, with adjustable arms, hands and tails, varying expressions (with eyes and mouths) and a cute tree and birds. Keep those little monkeys entertained for hours with Lego monkeys!

LEGO COLLECTIBLE MINIFIGURES

There will be 12 new characters introduced in 2023 with 71037 Series 24. This one is for ages 5 and up and includes T-Rex Costume Fan, Rococo Aristocrat, Robot Warrior, Potter, Newspaper Kid, Orc, Football Referee, Falconer, Conservationist, Carrot Mascot, Brown Astronaut & Spacebaby and Rockin’ Horse Rider.

LEGO CREATOR

We are expecting to see quite a few more released later in 2023, but so far five are ready to go in January, which are:

3133 White Rabbit

31143 Birdhouse

40638 Heart Ornament

40644 Piñata

40651 Australia Postcard

The Australia Postcard depicts our own outback, featuring tin shed, windmill, gum tree, desert flowers, cockatoo, kangaroo road sign and ‘Australia’ decorative plaque. Great for any overseas friends or just little Aussie kids who love our great outdoors, and you can explain to them what the ancient art of writing postcards is all about! Maybe it’ll inspire them to send one next time you’re on holidays…

LEGO DISNEY

The combination of Lego and Disney is naturally the most perfect match and 2023 will see at least five new sets, which will be available from January:

43210 Moana’s Wayfinding Boat

43211 Aurora’s Castle

43214 Rapunzel’s Music Box

43216 Princess Enchanted Journey

We happen to know some super big fans of Moana, and we can’t resist the 6+ Wayfinding Boat. Play the movie and sing along to the song – you know the one – whilst you build this delightful vessel: the catamaran-type boat has shelter and gorgeous printed sail, decorative motifs and fish & dolphin plus two mini-doll figures of Moana and Sina.

LEGO DOTS

Lego Dots are hot to trot, so they’re geared up to bring out a bunch of new stuff in the new year, including the popular wearables. There are a number of new sets; we won’t list them all here, but one we definitely like look of is:

41806 Ultimate Party Kit

6+ kids can really get creative and experiment and design their ideal party with these lovable cupcakes, bracelets, tiles, flags, charms and of course – stickers! Party on in 2023…

LEGO FRIENDS

Lego are announcing at least 20 new sets in this range for 2023. Friends fans will love the shops at

41732 Downtown Flower and Design Stores

This is for 12+ children, customisable and features a department store with escalators, a florist and furniture store – all in interesting, specific architectural styles. Then there’s a collection of characters and pets to fill the spaces. Other sets in this series include a Donut Shop, Dog Rescue Centre, Downtown Diner, Grocery Store and Hair Salon.

LEGO ICONS

Lego Icons in 2023 will include beautiful daffodils and wildflowers to add to your succulents and orchids. Floral fun!

LEGO MARVEL

Expect to see at least a dozen new Marvel sets in 2023. We suggest the most popular will be:

76248 The Avengers Quinjet

76241 Hulk Armor

10791 Team Spidey’s Mobile Headquarters

There appears to be more Spidey and His Amazing friends sets destined to be released later in 2023, so fans of this marvellous Marvel character will be rapt.

LEGO Minecraft

In January 2023 Lego is bringing out seven new Lego Minecraft sets. There will be battles, swamps, pandas, bees, frozen peaks and more – great news for 8+ Gamers and adventure lovers.

LEGO Monkie Kid

Many parents will know that this has been a big hit. Which is why the company is bringing out at least half a dozen new sets in 2023. Monkie Kid kids are especially going to love 80044 Monkie Kid’s Team Hideout.

LEGO NINJAGO

There’s a lot of new Ninjago sets to debut in January 2023. We reckon the big sellers will be 71785 Jay’s Titan Mech, 71738 Zane’s Titan Mech and 717 Zane’s Ice Dragon Creature.

LEGO SEASONAL

Lego ushers in the New Year with – New Year sets! These embrace diversity and also Lego nostalgia. We love the look of 80111 Lunar New Year Parade – with colourful characters and fun floats, it’s so festive! Don’t forget 2023 is Year of the Rabbit…

LEGO Speed Champions

For all the young petrol heads (or do we call them battery heads in the future when cars run on D.C.?) – Lego will bring out some new cars in 2023. At the moment we know of 76917 2 Fast Furious Nissan Skyline. Comes compete with Brian O’Conner minifigure.

LEGO Star Wars

There will no doubt be more down the track, but for now Lego has announced the following new Star Wars sets:

40615 Tusken Raider

75344 Boba Fett’s Starship Microfighter

75345 501st Clone Troopers Battle Pack

75347 TIE Bomber

LEGO Super Mario

Look forward to more whacky antics from these guys in 2023, because Lego are bringing out at least several new kits. We think that 71416 Lava Wave Ride will be a hit. What kid doesn’t enjoy dodging hot flowing lava?!

LEGO Technic

Lastly, Lego Technic. In 2023 Lego will bring us new forklifts, snow groomers, dump trucks and more. For 4+ aspiring engineers and construction specialists!

That’s all for now folks. Naturally feel free to ask our Lego experts at Toyworld about anything in relation to the world’s favourite building blocks. And don’t forget that new Lego products now come with digital instructions on the Lego App, and this facility also allows you to zoom in and rotate models in 3D, ‘save’ sets and track progress. It really is a fantastic new way of creating and enjoying amazing Lego adventures.
